The mission of the Cincinnati Box Lacrosse League (CBLL) is to develop lacrosse athletes through box lacrosse training sessions and games.

The CBLL's mission is rooted in:

  • Emphasizing skill & intelligence
  • Developing mental toughness to deal with adversity & frustration
  • Promoting a team-first mentality
  • Pursuing improvement through an openness to learning & an exceptional work ethic
  • Critically evaluating performance, mentality, & conventional wisdom regarding the game

WHY BOX LACROSSE?

The Cincinnati Box Lacrosse League (CBLL) emphasizes that training in the box is one of the best ways for a lacrosse player to develop his or her overall game.  Some of the benefits of box lacrosse are:

  • More touches/reps
  • Less specialization leads to more comprehensive development
  • 4x4 goals and padded up goalies make it difficult to score, thus improving finishing & shooting
  • Pace of play promotes awareness, anticipation, and reaction to transition play
  • Physical play develops toughness and ability to deal with frustration
  • Game rules promote fundamental defensive play (relying on footwork, not stick checks) and loose ball (ground ball) play
